 Welcome to the Galician Bioinformatics Network (GBN) web portal, central core for the activities of the Network.
The mayor goal of this initiative is to integrate
and organize the research and docent activities on Bioinformatics and
Biocomputing to be done in Galicia. With this purpose, we aim to
increase the co-operation competitiveness of this field of research in
our region, which is receiving the maximum interest in Biology and
Biomedicine. In order to achieve this goal, we used as a starting point
a previous Networking initiative and performed a mayor revision about
the current situation of Bioinformatics in Galicia. The mayor
necessities in the field have been summarized in a white paper,
together with some proposals to overcome them. This project is financed
by the Galician Government (Xunta de Galicia), through the Office of
Education, from September 2007, and for a minimum period of 2 years
(with a possible extension to a 3rd year).
Many researchers have shown a great interest for this initiative through
the Registration Form. This form will remain open, in order to mantain
a permanently updated catalog of researchers in Bioinformatics and
Biocomputation with a direct link to our Autonomous Region of Galicia.
